Nine of Batons

We begin by placing this image in the context of the entirety of the Suit of Batons, focusing the mantra HE WILLS on the region of the solar plexus. The reader is then encouraged to move the first part of the Inner Radiance Sequence, beginning with the mantra “In purest outpoured light radiates the Godhead of the world”, and then working through the chakras from root to crown in relation to the seven Healing Miracles and the seven I AM statements.

We then bring the Nine of Batons into relation with the 6th Letter of the Divine Alphabet: Vau; the Sixth Arcanum: The Lover; and the quality of “Love of Neighbor.” This finds its radiation in the Tree of Life between the sephira of the left side of the head (Warmth) and the sephira of the heart (Glory). Those who know the Grail Knight’s Practice can then perform the 6th part: Sanctification of Nourishment in the Full Circle; “Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread.”

Alternatively, we can bring the Nine of Batons into relation with the 4th Letter of the Divine Alphabet: Dalet; the Fourth Arcanum: The Emperor; and the quality of “Hermeticism.” This finds its radiation in the Tree of Life between the sephiroth on the right side of the head (Light) and the left side of the head (Warmth). Those who know the Grail Knight’s Practice can then perform the 4th part: Healing the Relationship to the Entire Surrounding Sheath; “Give us this day our daily bread.” (See Six of Batons, conversation two for the realisation that unlike the prior Suits of the Minor Arcana, in which the “turning point” of the Suit was the Five, here in the Batons the “turning point” may be the Six).

The Apocalypse readings for the Nine of Batons come from Chapter 21:9-13:

And one of the angels holding the seven libation-dishes filled with the seven last calamities came and spoke with me, saying, “Come, I shall show you the bride, the wife of the suckling lamb.” And he bore me away in spirit onto a great and holy mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem descending out of heaven from God, which had God’s glory, her luster being like costliest stone, like jasper stone, of crystalline clarity, and had a wall great and high, which had twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and twelve inscribed names, which are the names of the twelve tribes of Israel—three gates to the east and three gates to the north and three gates to the south and three gates to the west…”

for nine of batons i have a few thoughts… first, the ninth wand (or baton or rod or staff), rod reminds us of the flowering rod of Joseph before he married Mary, second, the wand also can be a reminder of the ninth Major Aracana card, the Prophet (by the way, is the Tenth card possibly supposed to be the Prophetess? there are female versions of the other personalities, so why not here? overbearing Patriarchy…?), his staff seems very similar indeed. considering the two major streams that form a large ‘X’, could that be physical and etheric? with the middle one astral? just a question, not a conclusion…
